CBBE and UNP have different UV maps. A UV map is how the texture lines up on a mesh. If you put an UNP-compatible texture on a CBBE mesh, the texture wont line up - you'll get nipples and bellybuttons, all over the place and gaps at the hip, as you've already noticed. You can have different NPCs using different body mods.

CBBE is pretty much objectively better than UNP because of the support and tools, and you can pretty much make UNP's body in CBBE using BodySlide if you want to. UNP is a simpler less involved body to work with. It's basically a suped up vanilla body. From what I understand CBBE has a lot of features but modders have to take that into consideration when making armor mods and such from what I understand. Touched by dibella body is another body mod.That side, unp used to be the popular one for more practical/realistic amours/clothes on oldrim while cbbe tended to be more skimpy. This tends to be the same for authors that make oldrim mods still. On sse though, cbbe tends to get a steady dose of all kinds of armours and conversions sometimes several mods a month and unp/uunp/bhunp tend to ... UNP is easy mode and has better armor support overall, which is quite important. All vanilla and DLC armors have been refitted for the body without looking like a metal bra, and there's also Immersive Armors support. You just need to be aware that the shape will be UNP, meaning if you put an UNP outfit on CBBE Slim, the bust will get a lot bigger, the shoulders and hips wider and the waist thicker, and if the outfit in question is skimpy/doesn't cover the pelvis, then you'll see hip-gaps. Look at the armor mods you want to use and look if most of them have Unp or Cbbe conversation. Also check out the skin mods, most of them have both versions avaliable.
