A consistent presence in the U District since 1994, I first became familiar with Thai Tom when I moved to Seattle nearly two decades ago. That said, I hadn't been in a few years--I hadn't been in the U district much in that period--and really started to think of the place a lot after Tom, the place's namesake, had passed away a couple of years ago.
