I have seen them on YJ or TJ frames before and they kept the 4.0's but you could always drop in a small diesel if you keep the tire height and gearing in check. For a general all around 4x4 with mud in mind I would stick with gas probably but small diesels to consider would be---. Cummins 2.8-3.3. Mercedes OM617.
