I find more ‘watery’ gels work better on my hair. I like the lightweight one from Curlsmith a lot. And many 2A-2C curlies use mousse or foam instead of gel.

I also have 2c-3a and used Shea moisture (I experienced some hair loss and it seems the Shea Moisture was the factor).
